This article presents information regarding the book "Writing Home," by Alan Bennett. looking, that the spirit falters." To read his diaries, it seems that Alan Bennett's life is one long Sunday afternoon of the soul. But ever since leaving medieval history at Oxford for the hit revue "Beyond the Fringe" in 1962, the eternally self-deprecating Bennett has performed very well indeed, exposing his faltering moments to the searching lights of the stage. Delivering a talk to the traditionalist Prayer Book Society, Bennett, who joined Beyond the Fringe with a parody of an Anglican sermon, conceals in his warm and jockey appreciation for the linguistic integrity of the B.C.P. an arresting lesson in moral dimension.
